Most bracketologists agree on where UNC will be seeded.

It is Selection Sunday, one of the best days of the year in college basketball. UNC has rebounded well after missing the NCAA tournament entirely last season. With brackets being solidified today, where do the experts predict the Tar Heels to be seeded?

What Will It Be?

According to BracketMatrix.com, which gives data on 124 different publications and their predictions, North Carolina is in good shape. UNC finished the regular season and conference tournaments with a record of 27-7, first in the ACC, and the ACC regular season champions. Of those 124 bracket predictions, 117 believe the Tar Heels will be a one-seed. The seven others picked UNC as a two-seed.

Fighting for the One-Seed

It has been a major battle for the final top seed. Purdue, UConn, and Houston have been thought of as locks for the first three one-seeds for weeks. North Carolina, Tennessee, Iowa State, and Arizona were the teams battling for the last spot.

The Tar Heels won eight straight games before losing in the ACC championship game, giving them leverage over the other three.

Tennessee has a real shot but lost on senior night to Kentucky and then their opening conference tournament game to Mississippi State. Those back-to-back losses look to have hurt their chances.

Arizona seemed to be ahead of UNC for the final spot just last week. In their final regular season game, they suffered a horrific loss to USC, which had a losing record. They would beat that same team in their conference tournament opener, but then lost in the second round to Oregon, a team on the outside of the bubble looking in.

Finally, Iowa State was likely behind all three of these teams a week ago. But they just ran through the Big-12 tournament, beating #14 Baylor and, in the championship game, blowing #1 Houston out by 28 points.

Will UNC be selected as a one-seed tonight?
