UNC is still looking to add members to next year’s team.
North Carolina will host Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin tomorrow, per David Sisk of Rivals. This will be Lubin’s second transfer. He has played in the ACC and has UNC ties. This is a big visit for the Tar Heels, who look to replace the production of Harrison Ingram and Armando Bacot.
What to Know
Lubin is transferring from Vanderbilt. His head coach with the Commodores, Jerry Stackhouse, played at North Carolina in the 90’s. Before playing at Vanderbilt, Lubin was with Notre Dame for a season. In 11 more minutes this year, he doubled his scoring production.
2022-2023 with Notre Dame: 17.4 minutes, 6.8 points, and 4.4 rebounds per game.
2023-2024 with Vanderbilt: 28.2 minutes, 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1 block per game.
Lubin shot 39 threes last season, making 13 of them, good for 33.3%. He will be a junior next year, and at 6’8 and 230-pounds, he could give the Tar Heels major minutes as a power forward or as a small ball center. Lubin has a quick first-step and solid post moves. Along with that, he sports a mid-range jumper.
Replacing Production
As it stands, North Carolina’s frontcourt has been decimated. It will return Jalen Washington and Jae’Lyn Withers, both backups from last season who combined for just over 20 minutes per game. Adding new pieces is critical for the success of next season’s roster.
Will the Tar Heels get Lubin to commit?
