North Carolina is still working the transfer portal.

With three scholarships still open, Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels continue to search the transfer portal. Recently, they reached out and received interest back from West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo.

The Player

Okonkwo is an athletic big man who rebounds and blocks shots well. He is still a raw talent and, with time, can become a nice player for the Tar Heels. This past season, Okonkwo averaged 11 minutes, scoring 2.5 points and grabbing 3.5 rebounds per game. He led West Virginia in blocked shots and was active on the glass. With scholarships open, this is the type of player you can take a chance on and develop. He will be a junior and have two years of eligibility remaining.

Scheduled Visit

According to reports, Okonkwo planned to take two visits before deciding. Those would be North Carolina and Texas A&M. The visits would be in a few weeks due to the fact that he is from England and is currently there. Okonkwo plans to visit North Carolina on July 24th but has not scheduled his trip to Texas A&M yet.

Big News

Texas A&M just received a commitment from Umass transfer Wildens Leveque. Why is this significant? That was the last scholarship the Aggies had to offer. Unless someone leaves, they are full and would be unable to take Okonkwo.

With him only having one visit scheduled, and his other planned visit filling up, could a commitment be imminent?
