Could the end of UNC in the ACC be coming?
The ACC is in a tough spot. The conference added three members that do not bring much value and, in turn, caused rifts with some of the power schools in the league. Both Florida State and Clemson have made it public that leaving is an option. Now, a trustee at UNC is advocating for the Tar Heels to leave.
Fiery Quote
Both quotes posted by Brian Murphy of WRAL, North Carolina trustee Dave Boliek made it clear what he wanted the school to do.
Firstly, Boliek said, “UNC trustee Dave Boliek: “Carolina’s ability to maintain excellence at a high level is going to require really prudent budgeting and revenue models & potential cost cutting. A lot of it is due to the revenue or lack there of of revenue that we’re not receiving from the ACC deal.”
Murphy reports that Boliek wants the school to join another conference.

What’s Next?
With Florida State and Clemson both suing the ACC, it sounds like a big move could be made in the near future. Those two, along with UNC, have repeatedly been named in the upper echelon of the conference. A move by any of those would create shockwaves within the conference. As the Big Ten, Big-12, and SEC have all gotten stronger, the ACC has failed to bolster itself, causing its members to fall behind in revenue.
At this point, a move by any of Clemson, Florida State, or North Carolina is nearly guaranteed.
