This will be the third edition of the event.

Earlier today, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports announced the matchups for next season’s Jumpman Invitational. The event consists of four teams: North Carolina, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Florida. These Jordan Brand schools rotate opponents on a yearly basis.

Next Seasons Event

North Carolina has already played Michigan and Oklahoma in the event. That left the Tar Heels with just Florida to play. Thus far, UNC has yet to lose in the Jumpman Invitational, beating Michigan 80-76 in 2022 and Oklahoma 81-69 in 2023. The Sooners were undefeated when the two met last season.

These games give four historically good programs a chance at an early season challenge.

This past season, North Carolina ended up as a 1-seed in the NCAA tournament, while Florida was a 7-seed. Oklahoma just missed the tournament, and Michigan had its first single-digit win season since 1981-1982.

UNC History Against Florida

According to FloridaGators.com, the two have met five times.

The first was in 1926, in Chapel Hill, and the Tar Heels would win 42-6.

Next was 38 years later, in 1964, a game that Florida won 73-54.

Then, a season later, Florida came back to North Carolina and lost 66-59.

On the biggest stage, in the 2000 Final Four, they would once again meet. The Gators moved on with a 71-59 victory.

The last time the two faced off was in the Bahamas in 2014. North Carolina took home the win with a final score of 75-64.

Both programs played well last season. Although rosters may be much different, this should be a great game.
