UNC Loses Another Contributor on Offense to the Portal

Another rough loss for UNC.

Wide receiver Tychaun “Doc” Chapman has decided to transfer. A former top-200 player in his high school class, he had contributed and looked like a promising piece for the future. Chapman is the second big recruiting win that the Tar Heels have lost since yesterday.

Showing Promise

This season, Chapman caught seven passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. He was set to be a key contributor in the future and used his speed to get open. Chapman has the tools to be a successful piece for any team he goes to. He is both a deep threat and can make plays in the backfield if needed. Chapman is the first big contributor that has decided to leave the program.

This may be a surprise departure for many, as he was thought to be in the rotation more next season. Now, UNC has lost two of its big recruits from Virginia in as many days. There are more players set to leave in the coming weeks.

As a Recruit

Chapman was a 4-star, ranked 195th in the nation in the 2022 class. He was a speedy playmaker who had shown promise in a loaded wide receiver room. Chapman had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Penn State, USC, and many others.

Best of luck in your future!
