The transfer portal has the college sports world going crazy.

Duke defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles has been in contact with North Carolina, according to @TransferPortal_ on X. How far along is the communication? Who knows? But, five years ago, who would’ve thought someone who played at Duke would even think about coming to UNC? The transfer portal has been wild.

Peebles Profile

Peebles is a 6’1, 286-pound defensive tackle from Raleigh, North Carolina. This past season, he had 40 tackles and four sacks. He also forced a fumble. Out of high school, he was a 3-star, ranked 774th in the country. 247Sports lists him as the 62nd-best player in the transfer portal.

Who He’s Hearing From

According to the tweet linked above, Peebles is on a visit to Missouri today. It also says that he has heard from Penn State, Miami, NC State, and Virginia Tech.

Portal-Palooza

The portal has seen some strange entries. Most of the time, players are not going to go to a rival school; however, it has happened. Last year, basketball player Matthew Cleveland of Florida State hit the portal. He landed with arch-rival Miami. As regulations are limited, it is only going to get crazier. Players jumping to a rival school won’t be shocking soon enough.

Can the Tar Heels land him? We will see.
