UNC got its second win of the season.

North Carolina and Lehigh were in a fight for much of the game on Sunday. UNC has let both of their early-season matchups hang around until late in the second half. Luckily, the Tar Heels were able to pull away and eventually push the lead past 20. It took more than you would expect, but North Carolina got the win. This was the worst-rated team that UNC is expected to play, according to KenPom.

Finding Chemistry

Obviously, the team is trying to find what works. There are more transfers and freshman on the roster than returners. North Carolina has had double-digit turnovers in both games this season. One noticeable issue so far has been defending screens. Whether it is a communication or assignment breakdown, UNC is struggling to get to shooters when being screened. Lehigh used this and was able to make 13 three-point attempts. That can’t continue, especially with the schedule North Carolina has for the rest of the month.

Men On Fire

R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot were amazing. Just like last season, these two are very consistent. Davis finished with 22 points, while Bacot had 22 points and 20 rebounds. That duo continues to lead the Tar Heels through games. Another standout thus far has been Harrison Ingram. The do-it-all forward scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds himself. UNC is looking for that fourth starter to step up. The bench has picked up its play in the meantime, with multiple players contributing.

The Tar Heels face UC Riverside on Friday night.
