UNC Falls in the ACC Title Game, Awaits Selection Sunday

UNC looked out of sorts from the start.

North Carolina could not sweep the ACC regular season and conference tournament titles. The Tar Heels looked slow and much less energetic than NC State, which was playing their fifth game in as many days. At times, the offense looked similar to last season, with a lot of standing around.

Game Story

The Wolfpack jumped on UNC early. It was a competitive first half, with the Tar Heels having the lead at the break. However, there was no answer for DJ Horne or DJ Burns. That duo did whatever it wanted all night long. Multiple mistakes and lapses by North Carolina gave NC State chances to go on runs. You would think the Wolfpack would run out of gas, but it was UNC that looked tired. Late in the second half, while trying to make a run, UNC couldn’t hit the big shots to cut the lead.

Top Performances

Armando Bacot- 18 points and 12 rebounds.

RJ Davis- 30 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists.

Selection Sunday

Tomorrow, North Carolina will find out its fate for the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels were closing in on a 1-seed, fighting with Arizona and Tennessee. However, tonight’s loss and Iowa State blowing out Houston could make things interesting. UNC has an impressive resume, but their fate is now in the hands of the committee.

The selection show begins tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
