For the second week in a row, UNC drops in the AP poll.

North Carolina had another week where it went 1-1. That caused the Tar Heels to fall three spots in this week’s AP Poll. The team has lost each of its last three mid-week games while winning the weekend matchup. This week, UNC won’t play until Saturday.

New Ranking

The new AP Poll has the Tar Heels ranked #10 in the nation. Last week they were #7, and the week before #3.

This past week, the team dropped a game at Syracuse, where they got off to a slow start and the Orange seemingly could not miss. It was a frustrating performance considering UNC beat Syracuse by 36 when they played in Chapel Hill.

On Saturday, North Carolina hosted a dangerous Virginia Tech team that thrives from the three-point line. The Hokies ended up shooting just 26.8% from three, as UNC poured in bucket after bucket. Although the defense still isn’t back to how it was a month ago, the offense was on fire in this one. Armando Bacot had a great game, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

House of Horrors

North Carolina plays just one game this week. They go to Virginia, where they haven’t won a game since 2012. The Cavaliers are now unranked after losing to Pittsburgh last week. Had they won, this would be a ranked matchup. After a slow start, Virginia has ramped it up as of late, winning nine of its last 10 games. They will face Virginia Tech tonight before the Tar Heels come to town on Saturday.

There is a lot of opportunity left!
