UNC baseball will be in the top 25!

As the season nears, D1Baseball.com has released its preseason rankings. In the top 25 is North Carolina, who they have at #15. UNC had a solid 2022-2023 campaign that ended in heartbreak. With many returners, will they be able to capitalize and use their experience to win a loaded ACC? Will this be the year the Tar Heels get back to Omaha?

Looking Ahead

This season, North Carolina brings in the #9 ranked high school class in the nation, according to PerfectGame. The Tar Heels also return seven starting position players. Pitching remains largely the same as last year. UNC lost Mac Horvath, who had an incredible year. The reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Vance Honeycutt, is among those back for the season. They will play a schedule full of ranked teams.

Other Teams To Watch

#1 Wake Forest

#10 Clemson

#11 East Carolina

#12 Duke

#13 NC State

#14 Virginia

#18 Coastal Carolina

#25 South Carolina

Last Season

The 2022-2023 UNC baseball team went 34-24 (14-14 in the ACC) and fell in regionals. After losing the opening game to Iowa, the Tar Heels fought through the losers bracket. They would again face Iowa in the elimination game, but fell in 13 innings. It was a tough season filled with injuries. Hopefully, that will not be the case this year.

It should be a good year for the Diamond Heels!
