After a successful season, Walker heads to the draft!

North Carolina wide receiver Devontez Walker will head to the draft. It was revealed that he accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. After a long process of becoming eligible at UNC, and then being a top target, Walker finally gets to live out his NFL dream.

Great Story

North Carolina welcomed Walker in after a successful stint with Kent State. All was well until he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA before the season opener. Public outcry by everyone and petitioning by North Carolina led to Walker becoming eligible before the Syracuse game. Although he missed three games, he still had an All-ACC-caliber season and was one of the Tar Heels top targets all season long.

Stats and Accolades

In his shortened season, Walker still grabbed 41 passes for 699 yards and seven touchdowns. He became a deep threat immediately, and made a lot of highlight plays. He was considered a draft pick before he came to UNC, but now, has only done more to impress scouts.

Walker was a third-team All-ACC selection. Imagine what he could’ve done with a full year.

Bleacher Report believes that Walker will be a second-or-third-round selection in the NFL draft.

Congrats to Tez, and good luck in the next phase of life!
