Davis has had a fantastic season!
North Carolina guard RJ Davis has been named the ACC Player of the Year. The senior is on a tear and still has games left to play. Davis is closing in on multiple records as well. Soon, you will be able to look up at the jerseys in the rafters and see Davis and his #4 among the greats.
Deserved Honor
Davis is one of the most dominant guards in all of college basketball. When the preseason All-ACC teams were announced, he was not named to either the first or second team. Davis proved them all wrong, being named to First-Team and winning the Player of the Year award for the conference. He averaged 21.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, shooting 43.2% and 41.6% from three. Davis is leading the ACC in scoring by over two points.
Davis has made his way into the top-10 in scoring all-time at North Carolina. He is also closing in on the single-season record for threes made at UNC in a season.
Jersey in the Rafters
That honor comes with having your jersey hanging in the Smith Center among the other names who have played at North Carolina. He is the first player since Joel Berry II to get his jersey in the rafters.
Top Performances
vs. Miami– Davis scored 42 points, breaking the Smith Center record for points in a game. He added 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
vs. Wake Forest– 36 points and 4 rebounds.
at Miami– 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Congratulations to RJ on an incredible season!
