Four North Carolina players were celebrated as the players of the game!

After a complete performance against Minnesota, UNC posted its players of the game on social media. The four guys who were awarded are more than deserving and were a big reason for the win. There was one selected from offense and defense, and two from special teams.

Offense

Also the ACC Wide Receiver of the Week, Nate McCollum did whatever he wanted. In his first full game for the Tar Heels, he proved why coaches raved about him during the offseason. McCollum caught the first seven passes of the game, capitalized by a touchdown. For the game, he had 15 catches for 165 yards and a score. He came up just shy of the school record for catches in a game, and it was only his first game with UNC. We can expect a lot more of this from McCollum.

Defense

Power Echols did it all and was rightfully rewarded for it. He was all over the field on defense, and his presence was felt. Echols finished the game with 9 tackles, 7 of which were solo, and an interception that he dove for. He was great in both run support and coverage. Echols has progressed each season and makes up one of the best linebacker duos in the country.

Special Teams

Noah Burnette got his first start of the season with Cincinnati transfer Ryan Coe out with an injury. He made his lone field goal and all of the extra-point attempts.

Liam Boyd did a great job on kickoff. He did not let Minnesota get a return.
