McCollum was dominant in the win over Minnesota!

North Carolina’s first touchdown against Minnesota was all Nate McCollum. He caught Drake Maye’s first seven(!) passes of the game. Minnesota could not stop him, and he continued to burn them throughout the game. He even missed a small portion of the contest with an injury and still put up the stats to win the weekly award.

Statline

Over the course of the game, McCollum caught 15 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown. He caught short pop passes, an amazing ball that he barely stayed in bounds for, and, of course, that deep touchdown. McCollum was in the right spot when UNC needed him.

Much Needed Return

After missing the opener against South Carolina due to injury, he played sparingly in the win over App State. His first full game with North Carolina was one to remember. McCollum brings a much-needed presence to a team that has struggled to find its complete weapons group. He gives the Tar Heels a deep threat that they have desperately needed. McCollum transferred in from Georgia Tech, which only heightens the ceiling of the current team.

What Mack Said

In the post-game press conference, Mack Brown said that McCollum turned into Josh Downs. The two are very similar, both in playstyle and size, but McCollum believes the two are very different. The pair knew each other and were friends growing up.

It is good to have Nate McCollum on your team!
