Leaky Black earned a contract!
Former Tar Heel Leaky Black has made his way onto the Charlotte Hornets roster. After a quick Summer League outing, Black did enough to earn a shot to play at the next level. Black did not see minutes in every game, however, when his time came he produced. It seemed like an odd decision to not see him in a few games, as the Hornets struggled and had a bad overall Summer League. Finishing just 1-4 in their games, many fans were calling out the teams effort. One thing UNC fans know is that Black will play defense. He guards the best player on the opposing team and is a matchup nightmare.
The Contract
Black will be on a two-way contract. This means he will develop in the G-League before hopefully progressing in his game and seeing time in the NBA.
At UNC
As we previously mentioned, Black was an elite defender while in Chapel Hill. He guarded every position but center. His flexibility and willingness to take on the other teams most important offensive threat set him apart. He was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team in each of his last two seasons. We saw his jump shot improve over the last two years and with a bit more aggression, can become more of a threat on offense.
Hopefully Leaky is able to develop and improve. Eventually, we may see him as a premier defender in the NBA!
