After months of speculation, UNC Point Guard commit Elliot Cadeau made his decision to join the Tar Heels next year.
Five-Star Point Guard Elliot Cadeau will play for North Carolina in 2023. Originally a member of the 2024 class, Cadeau is an advanced guard with elite passing ability. His ability to make plays and set his teammates up has been the most talked about part of his game. Scoring is no issue either. Cadeau can score at three levels. After a stellar high school career, Cadeau had nothing left to prove. He dominated the AAU scene and scored 29 points and had 15 assists in his final game with the New York Lightning.
Cadeau Can Go
Cadeau is North Carolinas best passing prospect since Kendall Marshall. Averaging 9.3 assists per game this Summer for his AAU team, Cadeau always knows where the ball should be. On top of this, Cadeau has flashed athleticism with his ability to get into the lane and highlight dunks. He is a good shooter from three as well. We talked about what Cadeau would bring to the team should he reclassify in a previous article.
Battle For Minutes?
There is no doubt that North Carolina has a logjam at the lead guard role. R.J. Davis, Elliot Cadeau, Seth Trimble and Simeon Wilcher are all guys who have and can play Point Guard. With Cadeau and Trimble being most likely to back-up Davis, both have reason to play more. Cadeau is less than a month younger than Trimble.
- Elliot Cadeau- A do-it-all playmaker and one of the top Point Guards, regardless of class, Cadeau has a very high ceiling. He and R.J. Davis could play together, space the floor and set each other up.
- Seth Trimble- Trimble knows the system and has already proven himself as a good defender. He has the year of experience and will know where to be from the jump.
Should R.J. Davis and Elliot Cadeau play alongside one another, the offense will be dynamic, allowing for space and lots of ball movement. This would allow Davis to play off the ball and be set up for jumpers. Hubert Davis likes to have two ball handlers on the court, so this would fit his system.
Furthermore, Cadeau is a likely a one and done prospect. He has talked of his desire to get to the NBA as quick as possible on multiple occasions. He has the skillset to be a star as both a college and pro player.
