Johnson dominated Florida State!
It has been eight years since former North Carolina forward Brice Johnson put up one of the greatest performances in the history of the program. Calling him dominant would be an understatement. There was no stopping Johnson, as he put up incredible numbers.
Two Career Highs
In North Carolina’s 106-90 win over Florida State in 2016, Johnson got his career high in points and rebounds. He finished the night with 39 points and 23 rebounds, one of the most ridiculous games you will ever see from a player. He added three steals and three blocks to that. Even better, he shot 14-16, good for 87.5%.
Elite Forward
Johnson played with an edge throughout that year. Although it ended in heartbreak, he was amazing during his time in Chapel Hill. During the 2015-2016 season, Johnson averaged 17 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He was named a consensus All-American, All-ACC twice, and All-ACC tournament team twice. Johnson was one of the biggest reasons that North Carolina made it to the national title game in his senior season. His skillset was perfect, dominating around the rim and being able to step out for a mid-range shot. His elite rebounding and rim protection allowed him to be a force on those UNC teams.
Johnson was exactly what those Tar Heel teams needed, and he is missed!
