UNC basketball is almost here!
North Carolina will begin its 2023-2024 season on Monday night when it faces Radford. This will be a team full of veterans who have been through the grind of a long NCAA season. On top of that, the younger guys are talented and hope to mix in well. So, what do we hope happens this year?
Getting Back to Carolina Basketball
Run the Floor– North Carolina has not run like they used to in past years. That was key to the Tar Heels scoring a lot of points and dominating games. Other teams could not keep up. It was fun to watch and limited the late shot clock heaves we have seen recently. With someone like Elliot Cadeau, who can make any pass, and hybrid forwards that can run the floor, will that aspect of Carolina basketball return?
Not Playing to the Opponents Level– It also seems that, as of late, UNC lets teams hang around. That only gives opponents confidence. Will this team put their foot on the gas and not let up? There are very few teams in the country with Carolina’s mix of veterans and talent.
Blowouts– Similar to the last point, beat up on teams. Great Tar Heel squads often won non-conference early-season matchups by 20 or more. In conference play, they were feared. This team has the talent.
Less than 10 losses– For four straight seasons, UNC has lost 10 or more games. That isn’t the Carolina basketball many of us know. North Carolina should be a powerhouse.
This will be an interesting year for a team full of fresh faces.
