UNC opens the season against the Radford Highlanders.

North Carolina starts its season Monday night. They will take on Radford, a member of the Big South Conference. They return two players who averaged more than 10 points last season, DaQuan Smith and Bryan Antoine. Antoine was a 5-star who played for Villanova after high school but dealt with a lot of injuries. They return three of last season’s starters. Radford was invited to the CBI tournament last year.

What Will UNC Do?

Likely Starters

  • Point Guard: R.J. Davis
  • Shooting Guard: Cormac Ryan
  • Small Forward: Paxson Wojcik
  • Power Forward: Harrison Ingram
  • Center: Armando Bacot

This was who started the game in both UNC’s exhibition and secret scrimmage.

North Carolina will likely look to use their bench in these early-season matchups. A number of lineups could be used to see exactly what they have for the future.

Seth Trimble and Jae’Lyn Withers are no longer listed on the injury report.

More on Radford

The Highlanders feature eight players who are 6’7 or taller. However, only one player is 6’10. They are not your average small conference team. They have height and athleticism. Last season, Radford had a balanced scoring attack. Last season, six players averaged more than seven points per game.

North Carolina and Radford have played twice before. In both seasons, UNC went on to win the national championship.
