UNC won its season opener against Radford!

On Monday, North Carolina faced Radford to open the season. The Highlanders returned three of last season’s starters. Guard Bryan Antoine is a former 5-star who was originally at Villanova. Radford tested the Heels for much of the game, until UNC was able to breakaway in the second half.

What Was Impressive for UNC?

  • Armando Bacot- 25 points and 13 rebounds. The preseason All-American looked as good as ever. He dominated the paint and was nearly unstoppable.
  • Perimeter Shooting- UNC made its first five three-point attempts. After that, it fell off a bit, but they showed they could shoot. Last years starters had two perimeter threats; this year, four starters can shoot it.
  • Transition- North Carolina was running. Elliot Cadeau and Harrison Ingram did a great job of pushing the ball up and down the floor.
  • Depth- This Tar Heel team has more than enough bench options. Elliot Cadeau, Jae’Lyn Withers, Jalen Washington, and Seth Trimble all brought something different once they were in.

Radford Can Score

What a first half for Radford. Their guards got into the lane and created problems for North Carolina’s defense. They made a lot of contested shots. That and forcing turnovers allowed them to keep the game close for so long. If Radford can keep that up, they will be a force in their conference.

UNC will play again on Sunday against Lehigh!
