Under a month away from Carolina football!
In just under a month, North Carolina and South Carolina will face off at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. These two do not like each other, and a majority of the fans feel the same way. The debate over who is the “real Carolina” continues and likely always will. There is a lot of history here as well. The two regularly played one another before South Carolina left the ACC for the SEC.
Previous Two Matchups
- In 2019, Mack Browns first game back, freshman quarterback Sam Howell led the Tar Heels to a come-from-behind victory. After struggling through three quarters, UNC found their groove in the fourth and never looked back. This was a new beginning for a program that had been struggling mightily the prior two seasons.
- In 2021, South Carolina beat a dejected North Carolina team in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. North Carolina looked like they did not want to be there, and played like it too. It is one of the more frustrating losses in recent years.
What this Game Means
Not only does this one set the tone for the season, but with the two schools being close together (in terms of national prominence), it can impact recruitments and how the teams are seen. North Carolina and South Carolina have taken turns looking like they are on the rise in recent years. This game may put one of them over the top.
With College Gameday being there, this is sure to be a fun atmosphere!
