UNC’s Schedule in the ACC Tournament and Implications

Published

on

The conference tournament will begin on Tuesday.

After Saturday’s conclusion of ACC regular season games, the conference tournament and its seeding were set. North Carolina will be the #1 seed and have a two-day bye. After a successful year, UNC won sole possession of the ACC regular season title after sweeping Duke.

North Carolina’s Schedule

UNC will have a two-day bye, and their first game will be on Thursday at noon. Here are their scenarios:

Thursday at 12 p.m. against the winner of Virginia Tech vs. Florida State.

Friday at 7 p.m. against one of Georgia Tech/Notre Dame/Wake Forest/Pittsburgh.

Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against one of Duke/Virginia/Clemson/Syracuse/NC State/Boston College/Miami/Louisville.

Implications

Should North Carolina win the ACC Tournament, or even two games, the team could put itself in great position to be a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. UNC already has an impressive resume and is likely fighting with Tennessee and Arizona for the last top seed.

The good news is that the Tar Heels have a head-to-head win over Tennessee, and if the Vols lose early in the SEC Tournament, UNC could separate themselves. However, many believe that Tennessee has the better resume between the two, and if they go far and the Tar Heels struggle, roles could be reversed.

Arizona has one of the easiest roads in their conference tournament, with the PAC-12 being weak.

It is officially tournament time in ACC country!
