There is always a lot to play for in this rivalry.

North Carolina is set to travel to Durham to face Duke tomorrow night. There will be a lot on the line, and this is another example of why this is the greatest rivalry in sports. The Tar Heels won the first meeting of the season by nine, further solidifying their top spot in the ACC standings.

Lots to Play For

It is the final regular season game of the season. On national TV, in primetime, these two bitter rivals have a lot to play for.

  • ACC Regular Season Title

For North Carolina, a win tomorrow night would grant them the ACC regular season title. For Duke, a win means the two teams would have to split the honor. In a rivalry this heated, no one wants to share.

  • Season Sweep/Not Getting Swept

UNC is looking for its first season sweep over Duke since 2021.

  • ACC Tournament Seeding

A North Carolina win guarantees the #1 seed in the conference tournament. A loss, and it will depend on who finishes fourth, Pittsburgh or Syracuse.

  • Senior Night

It will be senior night in Durham. Of their four seniors/graduates, only two play real minutes. Duke wants to send them off with a win, and the Tar Heels want to ruin their night.

  • Ranked Matchup

It is #7 North Carolina and #9 Duke. The winner will finish the regular season ranked higher than the other.

With so much to play for, who will be more prepared?
