UNC fought back!
North Carolina used a different defense to get back into the game against Florida State. It was an encouraging effort, as teams in the past would have rolled over. Instead, the intensity built, and UNC clawed its way to a win over the ‘Noles.
Early Struggles
North Carolina and Florida State played a pretty even first half. The two exchanged blows, with FSU hitting threes and UNC getting to the line. Armando Bacot was a force early, and had a lot of good moments. Baba Miller, a future NBA draft pick, made it tough on the Heels. His combination of height and versatility made it a tough matchup. The Seminoles used a late burst to take a six-point lead into the break.
Game Changing Defense
In the second half, FSU came out on fire. They pushed their lead to 14 points at one point. That’s when North Carolina applied a full-court press. This completely changed the game. Forcing turnovers and running the floor gave the Tar Heels the juice it needed to go on a 21-0 run. The pressure broke the ‘Noles, and North Carolina never looked back. It was an intense effort that had the Smith Center rocking.
Players of the Game
R.J. Davis: 27 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds.
Armando Bacot: 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks.
Seth Trimble: 9 points, elite defense.
North Carolina is about to face a loaded December schedule!
