UNC Summer League Report 7/7/23

Brady Manek

Three former UNC players had good nights in their first Summer League game of the year.

Garrison Brooks, Pete Nance and Brady Manek all had nice nights for their squads in their first game this Summer. Brooks is playing with the New Orleans Pelicans, Nance with the Cavs, and Manek plays for the Atlanta Hawks. If they keep this play up, these former UNC guys may find themselves with an NBA contract.

Statline

Garrison Brooks– Playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooks saw 16 minutes of action, and he made the most of it. He shot 80% from the field, scoring nine points and getting three rebounds and two assists. Last year, Brooks played for the New York Knicks G-League affiliate. He impressed in his time their and is looking for another chance this season.

Brady Manek– Coming off the bench and playing only 19 minutes, Manek still led the Hawks in scoring. At one point, he scored nine straight points for his team. He shot 50% from three for a total of 17 points and 9 rebounds. Manek has pro experience, playing in Australia last year. If he can keep shooting like this, he may be able to land himself a contract to stretch the floor for Atlanta.

Pete Nance– Also coming off the bench, Nance scored five points and added two rebounds. The team was a +9 in his 16 minutes. This may be enough for him to get more playing time next game!

Leaky Black- Black did not see minutes last night. An odd decision for a team struggling to do anything this Summer.

Lets hope our Tar Heels can continue to play well!
