Big win for UNC!

North Carolina played Arkansas for the third-place consolation game. Although the Tar Heels would’ve liked to win the tournament, beating a top-25 team is a good finish.

First Half

A promising start quickly turned into a disaster. North Carolina dominated the first 15 minutes of the half. The lead got up to 12 at one point. Then, foul trouble sat R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot down for the last six minutes. The Hogs went on a huge run and took a three-point lead into the break. UNC faced a familiar problem as Arkansas guard Tramon Mark scored 20 points in the first half and didn’t miss a shot.

Second Half

Similar to the first half, UNC built a double-digit lead that was erased due to Mark. He could not miss. A gutsy performance by Davis helped North Carolina rebuild that lead. Seth Trimble hit two HUGE threes in this game. Along with those two, Harrison Ingram was dominant again. The Tar Heels used multiple lineups to ice this one.

Prayers for Arkansas guard Tramon Mark, who was stretchered off the floor after his elite scoring day!

Final Score: 87-72

Top Performances

R.J. Davis: 30 points!

Harrison Ingram: 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists.

Seth Trimble: 12 points, 4 rebounds.

Next up: UNC vs. Tennessee in Chapel Hill.
