Can UNC land him?

North Carolina has had eyes on Darryn Peterson for some time. He is a top-five player in his class and one of the best scorers in high school ball. Peterson also plays at one of the premier prep schools in the country. Today, he released his top eight schools list, and UNC was included.

Top 8

Peterson has an elite list of schools recruiting him. His cut list shows that, as there are multiple blue-bloods. Every school that is still being considered has been elite at some point. Peterson’s list is: Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio State. That group makes up perennial tournament contenders. Something to watch here is the fact that Adidas signed him as their first high school NIL athlete. There has been noise that this could impact where he eventually lands.

The schools and their brands:

Adidas- Kansas and Indiana.

Jordan- North Carolina and Michigan.

Nike- Baylor, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Ohio State.

Recruiting Profile

Peterson is a 6’5, 195-pound shooting guard. He plays for Huntington Prep in West Virginia. That is one of the best prep schools in the country. 247Sports ranks him as the #3 player in the 2025 class and the #1 shooting guard. Peterson has elite scoring ability and had a great AAU season.

Where will he commit to?
