UNC Loses in Raleigh, Looked Completely Disengaged

UNC with another disappointing performance.

North Carolina headed to Carter-Finley with hopes of getting its ninth win. After blowing a game against Clemson, you would think they would want to prove a point against a rival. That did not happen. From the start, UNC let NC State drive down the field while the offense stalled. One team looked hyped and prepared, while the other looked like they didn’t even want to play.

Where is the Fire?

How do you come into a big game so flat? They planted a flag on the UNC field last season; is that not enough to get you going? Clearly, it wasn’t. A bad offense scored on a worse defense over and over. It is as embarrassing as it gets. The team that put 39 points on Carolina only scored 25 or more twice against all other ACC competition.

Bad to Worse

This offseason is set to be a big one for the UNC program. Many fans are once again becoming disinterested because of the losses to far inferior competition and a lack of disdain for rivals. The football program has lost the fanbase before, and it creates bigger problems. It wasn’t so long ago that Kenan Stadium was 50% empty, even for big games. If you lose the fans, it hurts attendance, and that leaves an impression on recruits. Mack Brown has already said that players are talking to their agents about leaving. The next few weeks are the most important since Brown returned.

The talent on this roster should’ve led to a maximum of two losses on the season.
