UNC Looking to Break Multiple ‘Curses’ Saturday Night

UNC fans have a reason to believe the football team is cursed.

North Carolina football has dealt with its fair share of issues over the years. There have been enough things that have gone wrong to last a lifetime. Saturday night, two issues can be resolved with a win. Will the Tar Heels do it? We hope so.

4-0 Start

North Carolina has not started off 4-0 since 1997. The students in college were not even born yet. Mack Brown was still in his first stint as the Tar Heels coach and was getting ready to leave. He had brought the program to heights not seen before, and UNC looked like it was about to take its football program more seriously. Then it all fell apart when Brown left for Texas. North Carolina has started 3-0 multiple times since then, but can’t seem to get that fourth win. Isaac Schade on Twitter showed what has happened the last four times the Tar Heels started 3-0.

  • 2009- Loss at Georgia Tech.
  • 2011- Loss at Georgia Tech.
  • 2020- Loss at Florida State.
  • 2022- Loss at Notre Dame.

Georgia Tech has always been a problem for UNC, especially in Atlanta. That Florida State loss was incredibly frustrating, and the UNC offense could not get going until it was too late. Notre Dame simply outclassed the Tar Heels last year.

This year, it is Pittsburgh. The Panthers stand between North Carolina and that 4-0 start. UNC has struggled at Pitt the last two times they visited. This time has to be different.

All White “Storm Trooper” Jerseys

The other ‘curse’ plaguing the Tar Heels is the all-white uniforms they sometimes wear. Yes, they are beautiful, but UNC has not won in them since 2016. This streak simply needs to come to an end so that UNC will wear them more.

Let’s hope the Tar Heels do the thing.
