Nice pickup for UNC!

North Carolina has landed an offensive lineman from Georgia. Austin Blaske entered the portal on December 4th and made his commitment to UNC this morning. The Tar Heels lost a mix of linemen to the portal, draft, and graduation. Blaske was a high-rated recruit out of high school.

More for the Line

Blaske comes from Georgia with four seasons of experience. Although he played mostly a reserve role for the Bulldawgs, he was able to develop in their system and could provide talent and more numbers for a line that needed it.

2020: Redshirt

2021: Played center in six games.

2022: Played in nine of fifteen games.

2023: Saw time in three games.

As a Prospect

Blaske was listed as a 6’5, 278-pound offensive lineman out of high school. From Guyton, Georgia, he was ranked as a 4-star and the 529th best player in the country. Before committing to the Bulldawgs, Blaske was committed to NC State for eight months. He also had offers from Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, ECU, and others.

Current Portal Class

UNC has now added two portal players: Blaske and former Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson. It is a solid start, and the Tar Heels will be adding many more as the months progress. The portal is wide open, and there are a lot of players who haven’t entered yet.
