UNC got a JuCo transfer today!

North Carolina has landed junior college transfer Tyrane Stewart. He had recently picked up a UNC offer as well as a few others. This is another player that will help the Tar Heels defense. He joins the 2024 recruiting class rather than being a transfer portal addition.

JuCo Product

Stewart is a 6’1, 180-pound cornerback out of East Mississippi Community College. That school has been featured prominently on the Netflix series “Last Chance U.” The East Mississippi CC page says that Stewart finished his time there with 64 tackles and two interceptions. If you watched that show on Netflix, you will know that his now-former coach, Buddy Stephens, is as intense as they come. East Mississippi CC is one of the best JuCo schools year in and year out. They lost three games this season.

Recruit Profile

According to 247Sports, Stewart is the 58th-ranked player in JuCo and the 6th-best cornerback. He ultimately chose North Carolina over NC State. On a team that is in need of defensive players, Stewart will fit in perfectly.

Current Class

Stewart joins the 2024 class and boosts it to 28th in the country. It is the fourth-best in the ACC as well, with 28 total commitments. There are eight 4-stars and 19 3-stars.

Congratulations on your commitment, and welcome to Chapel Hill, Tyrane!
