After falling just short against the Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl, Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels are back on the recruiting trail. Right now, Brown could be bringing a major prospect from his old stopping grounds  — Texas — to UNC football. Let’s break down this four-star running back that North Carolina is heating up for.

UNC Football Could Land Four-Star Running Back

The Tar Heels seem a bit behind in the 2024 class as of right now. So far, North Carolina has zero ranked prospects in the newest cycle, though that does not mean UNC is not trending for a number of solid recruits. One of these recruits is a four-star composite running back from Decatur High School in Decatur, TX: Nate Palmer.

Meet Nate Palmer

According to 247 Sports, Nate Palmer is a four-star running back, ranked the No. 347 player in his class, the No. 30 running back, and the No. 58 player in Texas. Palmer stands at 5-11 and weighs in around 180 pounds, which is pretty solid for a junior in high school. Additionally, Palmer is a high school track star.

Before his junior season, Palmer played two years of football at College Station before transferring to Decatur.

UNC football heating up for Nate Palmer

Nate Palmer has an extensive offer list as one of the top running back prospects in the nation, yet so far, it appears that UNC football is in the lead. Some of Palmer’s other offers include Auburn, Florida State, Michigan State, Miami, Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, TCU, Wisconsin, Oregon, Ole Miss, and others. As you can see, Palmer is highly sought-after, though Mack Brown’s recruiting skills have him interested in Chapel Hill more than anywhere else.

Nate Palmer would be a massive addition to UNC football’s 2024 class — what better way to kick off the class than with an elite-caliber four-star running back from deep in the heart of Big 12 territory?
