App State will be hyped for this one.

When Appalachian State visits North Carolina on Saturday, they will surely have last season’s game on their minds as both teams should. A game that the Tar Heels had won in the third quarter, the Mountaineers stormed back in the fourth. App State scored 40 points in that last quarter, but luckily the Tar Heels had done enough to eek out a two-point win. The final score was 63-61.

Betting Odds

This is a completely different App State team than last year. They lost a lot of talent and will be playing their backup quarterback after the starter was hurt last week. North Carolina is currently an 18-point favorite. The ESPN Matchup Predictor gives UNC a 91.5% chance to win this one. Just four years ago, App State came to Chapel Hill and upset the Tar Heels. Although North Carolina has a huge talent advantage, the Mountaineers will be hyped up for this one. Their fans often feel disrespected due to being in a smaller conference. They do have a great program in Boone, but will it be enough?

Homefield Advantage

North Carolina is coming off a big neutral-site win over South Carolina. Fans should show up for the home opener, being that the Tar Heels have a Heisman candidate at quarterback and one of the highest ceilings of recent UNC teams. Last time App State played here, they had quite a few fans in attendance.

Hopefully, the Tar Heels will not have a classic letdown after winning a big game. This is a huge one for App State.
