Just another win over NC State.

North Carolina is now the only team left undefeated in ACC play. After taking down the Wolfpack in Raleigh and Wake Forest’s loss to Florida State, UNC sits alone at the top. Again, the Tar Heels used stout defense to pull away from NC State.

First Half

A very physical first half ended with a 30-28 UNC lead. Neither team could get going, but the Wolfpack got to the foul line and shot 15 free throws, keeping them in the game. The Tar Heels went to Jalen Washington after Armando Bacot got into foul trouble. Washington would show his value on the defensive side of the ball throughout, making it tough for NC State star DJ Burns to get going against him. The half ended with a 30-28 UNC lead.

Second Half

It took a little bit, but once North Carolina stole momentum, they never looked back. Valuable bench minutes helped keep the starters fresh. Elliot Cadeau had one of his best games yet, doing a great job in ball screen and isolation situations. The Tar Heels looked a late run to take over the game and forced the Wolfpack into a lot of misses and turnovers during the stretch. Davis also got going, finishing with 16 points. Harrison Ingram again dominated the boards and grabbed 19 rebounds! Although Bacot got into foul trouble, he still finished with 9 points. Finally, Cormac Ryan hit a pair of big threes early and scored 9 points as well.

UNC has won 41 of the last 51 games against NC State. This series has not been close in decades.
