Peach Jam has started on the AAU circuit, and two North Carolina pledges had big days.
Drake Powell and James Brown both had great games on the first day of Peach Jam. Powell plays for Team CP3, while Brown is on the Mokan Elite squad. Both will have the Summer and next school year to improve and prepare for college.
Big Day
Drake Powell– What a year Powell has had! Originally seen as a project that would take time to develop, Powell has polished his game and skyrocketed up the rankings. He committed to UNC as a 4-star but is now ranked 9th nationally. Now a 5-star prospect, Hubert Davis jumped on Powell late, but was able to capture the lifelong Tar Heel fan. In game one of Peach Jam, Powell had 20 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 3 of 3 from behind the arc. On the day, he shot 70% and posterized a defender.
James Brown– A force inside, Brown finished the day with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and a block. He is a 4-star prospect out of Chicago, Illinois. Brown chose UNC over offers from Duke, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, and others. Before the Summer started, he saw his ranking fall a bit. However, if he keeps playing like he has over the AAU season, he will likely see a boost in where he is in the class.
If day one is what we can consistently expect, these two will continue to rise in the rankings.
