UNC commit Ian Jackson has had some unreal performances this Summer!

Currently ranked the number five player in the 2024 class, Ian Jackson has been a star throughout his career. His performance on the AAU circuit and in camps this Summer has only bolstered his profile as one of the best players in high school basketball.

Summer Star

Playing AAU ball for the New York Wiz Kids, Jackson plays on the Adidas AAU circuit. He has had NBA scouts at a few of the camps, with those in attendance “buzzing” over his performance. In three scrimmages this week, Jackson averaged 29.3 points, 9 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. While doing this, he shot an unbelievable 64.3% from the field. In the third-place game of the tournament, Jackson scored 38(!) points while adding 12 rebounds and 4 assists.

Commitment

As we have gone over previously, Jackson was considered a heavy Kentucky lean for most of his recruitment. It wasn’t until his visit to North Carolina that the tide began to shift. After that trip to Chapel Hill, rumors swirled that Jackson was impressed with the Tar Heels and Hubert Davis. A few days later, he would choose UNC over Kentucky and Arkansas.

It is safe to say that North Carolina has a star on its hands when Jackson arrives on campus next year. He is an athletic scorer who has shown he can be efficient and impact the game in multiple ways.
