The Tar Heels landed two players on the first edition of the ACC’s Players of the Week!

North Carolina’s win over South Carolina put the country on notice. The offense looked solid, and the defense was better than we have seen it in years. It was a complete performance that got a lot of folks in the media talking about what this team could be. With a performance like that, it’s easy to see why UNC had two guys featured in the ACC spotlight.

Running Back

British Brooks

How can you not love the story of British Brooks? From being VERY lightly recruited to breaking out, just to have a major knee injury and miss all of last year, and now, in his first game back, he’s named the ACC Running Back of the Week. It is all coming full circle. Brooks was great on Saturday night. He ran the ball 15 times for 103 yards. Brooks also caught 3 passes for 18 yards. He was a physical force, breaking tackles and running strong. North Carolina is lucky to have him, and his story continues to get better. After the game, he and Mack met on the field, where Brooks cried, showing just how much this meant to him.

Defensive Lineman

Kaimon Rucker

How could it not be Kaimon Rucker? Not only is he the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week, but also the Walter Camp National Player of the Week! Disruptive all night, Rucker was constantly in the backfield, causing problems for the Gamecocks. He finished with 8 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. Rucker was a nightmare for Spencer Rattler, and you could tell he set the tone for the defense. He has been a constant for the Heels over the last two seasons, and we may not have seen the best of him yet!

These two are set to have big years for the Tar Heels!
