Portal season is getting busy for UNC.

Now that the regular season is over, players will begin the process of transferring to other schools. UNC lost tight end Kamari Morales yesterday, and so far, have lost three today. It is how college sports work now, and the Tar Heels can expect more to follow after a disappointing end to the season.

Another Three Hit the Portal

As of right now, there are three more players leaving. They are Elijah Green, Kedrick Bingley-Jones, and Jefferson Boaz.

Elijah Green: Only a junior, Green is going to go somewhere and break out. He had not been given much of a chance last season but saw time against Duke and played a major role in the victory. He was one of the go-to running backs late last year. It is a strange situation that after being on the field often last season as the fastest back in the room, he couldn’t get more carries this season. He went from 131 rushing attempts in 2022 to four in 2023.

Kedrick Bingley-Jones: Another junior, Jones got hurt early in his college career and was not given many opportunities after that. He was a 4-star prospect out of high school. With UNC’s defensive line struggles, you would think he would have at least gotten more of a chance.

Jefferson Boaz: A reserve quarterback, Boaz also never got a chance, throwing only two passes in his career. He has been in a quarterback room with two of the best UNC has ever seen. Hopefully, he will get playing time wherever he goes.

It is always sad to see players leave, and as fans, we should wish them well on their journey. Good luck to all three on your next step!
