A UNC title reunion!
North Carolina has three players from the 2017 national championship playing for the Texas Legends. The Legends are the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. Justin Jackson, Theo Pinson, and Tony Bradley are all on this year’s squad.
Reunited
The three title winners are back on the same team. They have taken very different paths to get here, but all three have spent time in the NBA.
Justin Jackson: Drafted 15th overall in 2017. Won an NBA title in 2021.
Theo Pinson: Undrafted. Bounced around the league and has been one of the best bench guys. Has shown promise but not gotten a true chance.
Tony Bradley: Drafted 28th overall in 2017. Has played on four teams and been a key role player.
Jackson currently leads the G-League in three-pointers made.
Time at UNC
These three, along with other great players, led the Tar Heels to a national championship. Pinson would stay for another year, while Jackson left for the NBA as a junior and Bradley was a one-and-done. Each played a key role that season.
Averages that Season
Jackson: 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, while shooting 44%.
Pinson: 6.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
Bradley: 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, shooting 57%.
That team would go 33-7, defeating Texas Southern, Arkansas, Butler, Kentucky, Oregon, and Gonzaga in the tournament to win it all.
It is good to see Tar Heels playing together after college!
