The two had a response for McCants.

On Theo Pinson’s podcast, Run Your Race, Justin Jackson stopped by, and the two talked about a range of topics. Among those was a claim by Rashad McCants, who continues to badmouth the Tar Heels. He has made multiple negative statements in recent months about North Carolina.

What Now?

Pinson and Jackson discussed a clip from the podcast that McCants is often on, hosted by Gilbert Arenas. In it, they are talking about the 2005 national championship game between UNC and Illinois.

McCants starts by saying, “I had 15 points at half, but then my coach decided that it wasn’t going to be my show because it was Big Man’s (Sean May) birthday.

Bomani Jones responds, “It had been Big Man’s show for the last 15 games of that season.”

McCants then says, “But it wasn’t because I got hurt, I had an intestinal disorder. So, I was already decreasing my scoring and passing more because the ****** on my team were haters.”

After the clip ends, Pinson says, “Rashad McCants put out a statement, something like, he was forced to give the ball to Big May, he had to give the ball to Ray, he had to give the ball to D No, to Marv, and all these guys. You shot the second-most shots on the team. The **** are you talking about, bro? And then, they wanted Big May to win MVP because it was his birthday. I can tell you one thing right now: Coach Williams don’t give a **** about nobodies birthday on the national championship game. He wants the dub, and that’s all Big May wanted, the dub.”

Jackson responds to Pinson with, “Sean May was, like you said, was the best big man in the entire country. He had like 25 and 10, some big double-double in that game. So, you’re sitting here saying, “I had to start feeding him because they wanted me to feed him,” and this and that. It didn’t affect you getting to the league.”
