A nice gesture from the Tar Heels!

After an awful ruling and making yet another bad choice, the NCAA decided not to let Tez Walker to play. Weeks of sitting on this case resulted in anxiety and frustration for the UNC wide receiver. The program and many in the media got behind Walker on this case, pushing for the NCAA to reverse their decision.

Timeline

Walker transferred to UNC after playing at Kent State. He had been at two other schools, but never got to play due to injury and COVID. His decision to come to North Carolina came as he wanted his grandmother to see him play in person. He would be closer to home and able to show his talent in front of his family.

When Walker chose Carolina and enrolled in classes, everything seemed fine. Two days after enrolling, the NCAA presented a new rule regarding multi-time transfers. Yes, he transferred multiple times, but this case is different. He only saw time at Kent State. North Carolina will be only the second school he has played in a game. On top of this, how does a rule that comes out after you transfer make you ineligible? That is just the NCAA doing what they do. Coaches, media members, fans, and more all showed support for Walker on social media.

Tez Named Captain

On the North Carolina football Twitter account, it was announced that Tez Walker would be an honorary captain for todays game. He join three others, Corey Gaynor, Kaimon Rucker, and Ben Kiernan for that honor. Walker is sure to get a loud ovation when he comes out.

I expect fireworks from a fired-up UNC team once the game kicks off.
