Another round of good Summer League games from a few former Tar Heels!

With Summer League winding down, we take a look at how multiple North Carolina players have been doing. Over the past week, we have recapped their performances and the outlook for each. We did not go over their third game, as it was mostly uneventful. However, the fourth was not.

Statlines

Pete Nance– Seeing his most minutes yet in the Summer League, Nance scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. Still adjusting to the pro game, he was also called for seven fouls (you are allowed 10 in Summer League) in his 27 minutes. For Nance, it has to be seen as a positive for the team to play him more. His performances may net him a contract.

Brady Manek– Another player seeing an uptick in minutes, Manek continues to show off his game. As we stated in a previous article, his pro experience in Australia seems to have been important for his development. In 22 minutes, Manek scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. He isn’t just shooting threes, either. He made four of his six attempts inside the three-point line. It will not be surprising to see that Manek earns a contract.

Garrison Brooks– Overall, Brooks has played well this Summer. He has seen steady minutes and produced in that time. His time in the G-League has helped his game. Last night, he scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Pelicans fans seem to like his game as well.

Leaky Black– Finally seeing time again, Black had a really good game. He had not played in two of the last three games. Last night, he played 17 minutes, knocking down two three-pointers. He scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds. It is clear that he can produce when given time. Additionally, we all know about his defense.

These four Tar Heels all had solid games. When it comes down to making a roster, hopefully each will have played their way into a contract.
