The transfer is down to three schools.
Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic is the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic. He is making a name for himself as he had a solid first year of college basketball. After one season in Palo Alto, Stojakovic entered his name into the transfer portal. He has heard from dozens of schools but is down to North Carolina, Kentucky, and California.
What to Know
Out of high school, Andrej was a 4-star prospect, bordering on the 5-star line. He was ranked as the #19 player in the 2023 class. At 6’7, Andrej is perfect as a wing in today’s game.
In his lone season with Stanford, he averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 assists in 22.3 minutes per game. Andrej shot 40.9% and 32.7% from three. There were nine games this season in which he scored in double figures.
Basketball DNA
Andrej’s father, Peja, was a fantastic NBA player. Peja played 18 seasons in the league, averaging 17 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. In that time, he was named to an All-NBA team, was a three-time NBA All-Star, and won an NBA championship in 2011.
Outlook for UNC
Adding Andrej would give the Tar Heels another wing. Last season, there was no true small forward on the roster. Andrej could fill that role. North Carolina is also in heavy pursuit of Belmont transfer Cade Tyson. If UNC took both, it would have much taller wings than it did last season.
The next few weeks will be very interesting in Chapel Hill.
