Champ has been in this group for 19 years straight!

Every single year since 2004, the eventual national champion has been ranked in the top-12 of the week six poll. Weird stat, but it is true. This season, the #9 Tar Heels qualify. Will history repeat itself?

Good Start

North Carolina is ranked #9 in this week’s poll. They are joined by Arizona, Kansas, Purdue, Houston, UConn, Baylor, Marquette, Creighton (lost last night), Gonzaga, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. That is a strong group of contenders if trends remain the same. UNC can credit wins over Tennessee and Arkansas for their climb.

The week six poll has been consistent since 2004, and for North Carolina, they will hope it is again. The Tar Heels have two big opportunities coming up against Kentucky and Oklahoma. Both should be good games that continue to challenge the team right before ACC play.

Will the week six poll be right again?
