Howell may be the future of the Washington Commanders!

The former Tar Heel has been impressive in all but one game this season. Commanders fans seem to love him and are treating Howell like he will be the one to lead them back into relevancy. His arm and decision-making have looked good for the most part this year, and the hope is that Howell is the Commanders next franchise quarterback.

Great Performance

Despite the loss, Howell played very well against one of the best teams in the NFL. The Eagles were just in the Super Bowl last year and have put it all together on both sides of the ball. The Commanders, on the other hand, have been searching for a quarterback for years. On Sunday, Howell seemed to be that guy. He threw for 290 yards and completed 29 of his 41 passes, including a touchdown. On top of that, he ran six times for 40 yards. Howell’s lone touchdown pass was as the clock hit zero, to send the game to overtime. Although the Commanders got the ball first in OT, the refs ruled a long throw and catch incomplete, even though it looked like the receiver was in bounds. The high-powered Eagles capitalized, making a 54-yard field goal to win the game.

The good news is, Howell has the support of a fan base that has suffered for over a decade.
