What a night for Davis!

North Carolina guard RJ Davis continued his All-American campaign in the team’s close win over Miami. Not only did he set a career high, but he also set the Dean E. Smith Center scoring record for points in a game. Even better? It was done efficiently. The Tar Heels needed every bucket too.

Man On Fire

There was no stopping Davis on Monday. He put his name atop the greats that have played inside the arena and continues to make a case for National Player of the Year. Davis scored 42 points on 14-22 shooting (63%). He made seven of his 11 three-point attempts on the night, blowing the roof off of the Dean Dome with each make. The senior guard was electric, especially in the second half.

Jersey in the Rafters?

At this point in the season, Davis is the favorite for ACC Player of the Year. He is also one of the top players in the country, and should become a First-Team All-American and All-ACC selection. With those, he would qualify to have his jersey hang among the rest of the greats in the rafters of the Smith Center.

Rewriting History

With Davis breaking the record, the Smith Center order of most points scored is now:

#1- RJ Davis: 42 points.

#2- Tyler Hansbrough: 40 points.

#3- Tyler Hansbrough: 39 points.

#4- Joseph Forte: 38 points.

#5- Tie between Joseph Forte, Antawn Jamison (x2), and RJ Davis: 36 points.

Davis continues to be phenomenal.
