Davis has been phenomenal.
RJ Davis has played at an All-American level this season. The senior point guard has been key to North Carolina’s resurgence. He is the team’s leading scorer and is doing it on and off the ball. This year, Davis is scoring wherever and whenever he wants to. At the rim or from three, it doesn’t matter, and his best games have come against the top competition.
Davis Against Q1
Among all players who have faced at least four Quad 1 opponents, Davis ranks fifth in scoring. Against that top tier of teams, he is averaging 22.3 points per game, good for fifth in the country. Davis is doing it in an efficient way, with a true shooting percentage of 56.3%. When you factor in non-quad 1 opponents, his average drops to 20.4 points, which is pretty good in its own right. On the year, Davis is 20th in the country in scoring average.
Making A Point
Before the season started, Davis was not named to either All-ACC team. Now, he leads the conference in scoring. The second-highest scoring guard is two points behind him, while the only player close to him is Clemson forward PJ Hall, at 20.1 points per game. Davis has made those predictions look silly, and if he keeps this level of play up, could win ACC Player of the Year or even be named to an All-American team.
If he keeps this up, the sky’s the limit!
