UNC played FAU in a closed scrimmage.

North Carolina participated in its annual secret scrimmage on Saturday. In that game, they traveled south to face off with the Florida Atlantic Owls. FAU is coming off a historic season where they reached the Final Four. If not for a buzzer-beater by San Diego State, they would’ve been in the championship game. FAU will enter the season ranked #10, while the Tar Heels will start at #19.

Reports on the Game

According to sources across the internet, UNC’s starting lineup was:

PG: R.J. Davis

SG: Cormac Ryan

SF: Paxson Wojcik

PF: Harrison Ingram

C: Armando Bacot

247Sports Eric Bossi tweeted that North Carolina won the game 79-63. A 16-point win over a top-10 team is good news. However, these scrimmages are often much different than games. Teams are working out kinks, trying new lineups, and getting back into the flow of things. FAU was also without star guard Alijah Martin. Multiple sources stated that R.J. Davis looked very good. Jeff Goodman posted that Jalen Washington and Elliot Cadeau both played well. No matter what these games entail, you would rather your team win by 16 than lose by 16.

What’s Next?

This coming Friday, UNC will host St. Augustine’s in an exhibition. It will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Dean E. Smith Center.

This Tar Heel team has a chance to be very versatile with its lineups.
