The UNC-Duke Rivalry never stops.

In a clip uploaded to Instagram by @nikeeyb, Duke freshman guard Jared McCain is talking in a mic, introducing himself and where he goes to school. Former Tar Heel standout and 18-year NBA veteran Rasheed Wallace begins coughing in a lighthearted manner and saying, “Excuse me.” This was followed by McCain saying, “UNC did not make the tournament last year.” Not backing down, Wallace responds with, “Coach K lost his two games to who?” The two repeat what they said again before the clip cuts off.

Wallace vs. McCain

This is a perfect encapsulation of the rivalry. You have a veteran player from the 90’s arguing with a freshman. Both clearly know who to hate and how much it means to down the other school. With the landscape of college basketball today, it is nice to see that players who haven’t even played yet already hate their bitter rival. You know Wallace isn’t going to back down. He played in an era where the rivalry was white hot, and has never been afraid of anyone. There’s a reason he has the most technical fouls in NBA history! Wallace was 4-0 against Duke in his college career. Time will tell how McCain does against the Tar Heels.

North Carolina fans have a new player to dislike. It’s the best rivalry in sports for a reason!
